Room 306 is the Miss Kate Arnold Room!
Miss Kate Arnold moved to Sheridan in 1901 at the age of 22 from her home state of Virginia. She immediately started working for the Sheridan Inn, and in 1909, she moved into the inn where she would stay for nearly six decades. In the 64 years Miss Kate worked for the Sheridan Inn, she assumed the role of a desk clerk, housekeeper, hostess, and sitter for the many children staying at the inn with their families. She became symbol of love, caring for the inn and its guests, and a fixture in the community of Sheridan. Everyone knew Miss Kate and her welcoming spirit.
She was also the self-proclaimed night watchman for the inn, making sure all the candles were extinguished and everyone was safe before she went to bed. Miss Kate was the one constant for the Inn when owners came and went and business fluctuated. Those who have spent many hours learning about her history here have grown to love Miss Kate today as everyone did so many years ago.
