Outdoor Activities In Wyoming
Go camping, hiking, and sightseeing in national parks. According to reviews on TripAdvisor.com, the most highly ranked of these are Grand Teton National Park, Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone, Shoshone National Forest, and Bighorn National Forest, right here in Sheridan. Among some of the better-known hiking trails you will find the Jenny Lake Trail and Menor’s Ferry Historical Trail at Grand Teton National Park, as well as the North Rim Trail and Artist Point at Yellowstone National Park.

Go white water rafting and do other water sports. For the more adventurous traveler, Wyoming offers river rafting and tubing at a number of locations. These include Alpine, Jackson, Laramie, and Thermopolis.
Take scenic tours of our landscapes and wildlife. For example, there are several wildlife tours in Jackson and Yellowstone National Park. You can also take several bus tours to the national parks. Some tours are guided, and others are not guided. Or, try a balloon ride in Teton Village and enjoy the tour!
Go skiing at popular resorts. For winter travelers, there is plenty of skiing for the avid enthusiast. Some of the top places to ski are Grand Targhee, Hogadon, Jackson Hole, Sleeping Giant, Snowy Range, and White Pine.
Enjoy a Wild West Rodeo. Rodeos are not as commonly found as other outdoor activities in Wyoming, but a search online yields www.wyomingtourism.org/things-to-do/sports-recreation/rodeo as a good resource of rodeo information. Tour our museums. We have museums of all types, including Art, Children’s, History, Natural History, Observatories, Planetariums, Science, and Specialty. Check local listings for prices and hours.
Admire our theater performances. Some good examples of where to see theater performances here are at the WYO Theater in Sheridan, The Cheyenne Civic Center Performing Arts Theater, and at most of the colleges. Just conduct an internet search for “theater performances in Wyoming,” to find out the dates and venues of these random performances.
Attend great concerts. Most of the local towns around Wyoming have free or low cost concerts at their various town festivals. These feature a variety of local and national artists. A good way to find the local music performances is to search the websites of the various chambers of commerce, or the local newspapers.
